Working with Fastway Civil Supplies, Zezt is ensuring that current and future power requirements will be met in the local surrounding areas of the West Gate Tunnel Project, a major infrastructure upgrade for Melbourne’s CBD.

Zezt has supplied over 5,000m of 63mm and 180mm high-density (HD) orange polyethylene continuous coils, which have been installed in diversion works to ensure uninterrupted power supply to local homes and businesses during the construction period.

The West Gate Tunnel Project will deliver a vital alternative to the West Gate Bridge, providing a much needed second crossing over the Yarra River in Melbourne, providing an alternate route that will ease traffic congestion and travel time in and out of the CBD. It is a partnership between the Victorian Government and Transurban and will be built by the CPB Contractors and John Holland joint venture. Construction is underway and is expected to be completed in 2022.

The completed tunnel will:

  • remove over 9,000 trucks from local streets;
  • create 6,000 jobs;
  • create 9 hectares of new public open space;
  • widen the West Gate Freeway to 12 lanes; and
  • upgrade major cycling and walking paths, providing safer alternatives to the local community.

Zezt’s contribution to the overall project has been integral to ensuring the successful implementation of the much-needed infrastructure for Melbourne’s local communities.
